Get Your Manuscript To The Next Stage With The Book Clarity Clinic
Free non-fiction book coaching for wellness professionals and mental health advocates who want to self-publish.
You’ve got an idea for a non-fiction book. The kind of idea that could have a huge impact on a one to one level.
That could be helping people achieve the life they’ve always wanted or how to create a stronger mental health routine.
Maybe your idea is about societal impact. The sort of idea that raises awareness about a cause or improves work culture.
You start writing your book…
Suddenly, the big idea feels jumbled. You don’t know where to begin. Or you write a little here and there, but momentum stalls again.
Perhaps you finish your book. After all the blood, sweat and tears, the countless hours of writing, you’re hit with the realisation of “how the hell am I going to publish this thing?”
Both traditional and self-publishing feel overwhelming because there’s so many options of how to get started. So, you procrastinate and your book remains unpublished because you can’t make a choice.
Anyone who’s written and published a book has gone through some variation of this journey.
I know I have. I say this as the author of several non-fiction books that have been traditionally published, and as a guy who has helped to self-publish the books of other authors.
To face all of these ups and downs is a rite of passage and it shouldn’t deter you from wanting to put your book out there.
My name is Jamie Ryder. I want to help you do that through FREE non-fiction book coaching throughout November…
You’re probably asking yourself what makes me qualified to be a book coach, given that anyone can claim to be a coach of anything these days.
Trial and error lived experience. I’ve spent the last 15 years writing both fiction and non-fiction, fighting in the publishing trenches.
I’ve had my fair share of failures and successes. I’ve had agents be interested in reading my work, only for them to pass in the end because of circumstances beyond my control. I’ve had short story collections and non-fiction books published.
All these experiences have taught me how to get better every time through my writing, book pitching and publishing process. I’m still learning every day.
But don’t just take me at my individual writing experience.
Here’s what Andy Hall, author of Purposeful Mentoring, has to say about what it was like when I coached him to finish and self-publish his book:
“My ability to edit has improved a lot, but more importantly, I now see it as a separate part of the process. Before I was trying to write and edit at the same time, which just slowed everything down. Now I respect that editing is its own phase and that it often takes multiple passes.
“I noticed my style of writing changed dramatically. The book initially read like I was just trying to push a book out and tick a box. I don’t think it spoke to anyone in the early stages. It was a collection of ideas put together. But then I learned to position myself as an author and authority on the subject of mentoring.”
“I distinctly remember writing those later chapters. I was fully engaged in the process. It felt like I was genuinely expressing myself. Earlier on, it was more mechanical. I would write 500 words on a topic and come back to it later. Not necessarily a bad approach, but the evolution in my writing became obvious when I read the manuscript back several times after the editing phase.”

How Will The Book Clarity Clinic Help Me?
The Book Clarity Clinic is for anyone who feels called to write a book aimed at making an impact on an individual or societal level. You might be a coach, therapist, trainer or mental health advocate who's been through adversity and sensed there is meaning to share from your lived experience.
For one hour online, we’ll talk about all aspects of your book to determine where you are in your journey and what you need to do to self-publish it.
Why is the clinic about self-publishing and not traditional publishing?
Traditional publishing is awesome, don’t get me wrong. But every year the bar gets higher for what publishers great and small will accept in terms of what they see as commercially viable.
AI-generated books are unpublishable because they piggyback off the work of established authors through the models that tools like ChatGPT and Claude are trained on.
Not to mention, landing an agent is bloody hard. In some cases, you can be waiting months just to hear a rejection.
On the other hand, self-publishing gives you creative control and you can publish books faster. The trade off is that you will be responsible for all the costs and the marketing.
That’s why it’s worth knowing about how to self-publish in a way that works best for your goals and budget. If you want to know about this specifically, we’ll cover it in your session.
Like I said, the Book Clarity Clinic is completely free. We can use the time to talk about:
What the idea of your book is and how to present it to your audience.
Writing techniques and tips to stop you from procrastinating.
Who you need on your self-publishing team.
Self-publishing methods and platforms.
You’ll leave the clinic with at least one actionable takeaway to move you to the next step of your writing journey.
In the case of Purposeful Mentoring author Andy Hall, here are some of the results he achieved through ongoing book coaching with me:
A sporadic writing schedule that was inconsistent and undefined turned into being able to write up to 3000 words per day and up to 10,000 words per week.
An ability to enter a state of writing flow in under 1 minute with extended writing sprints of 90 - 120 minutes, without feeling the need to self-edit immediately.
If you’ve heard enough and you’re ready to take your book to the next stage, scroll down to the form and register your interest. There are a few questions that should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.
Spots are limited
There are a couple of caveats, though.
The first is that places on the Book Clarity Clinic are limited to four spots in November.
Those four spots are only for people with an idea for, or are already working on, a non-fiction book in the wellness, self-development or leadership space.
You’ll need to register your interest below by filling out your details, answering a few questions and following all instructions.
The second caveat is that once you’ve registered your interest there is a limited time to book your online session. After you’ve registered, I’ll email you a link to arrange a time and day that suits us both.
You’ll have three working days to arrange your time from the day you were sent the link.
If you don’t book a time within that three day period, you’ll lose your spot and it will go to anyone who is waiting behind you.
It’s first come, first serve. These caveats are here for your benefit as much as mine.
If you’re serious about writing and self-publishing your book, there needs to be commitment to follow through on your part.
Think about this question and think about it honestly:
If you can’t commit to a free hour of book coaching, are you really going to commit to all the work it takes to turn your manuscript into a viable product?
Now you know what to expect, register your interest below. I look forward to hearing more about your book.
